Ready to go

At the gate and ready to go.  Had a few glasses of bubbles with the rest of the gang.  Just heard that Amy Winehouse has been found dead. :( Bad luck lass.  Next bulletin will be from Johannesburg - if I can find a free wifi point

Next problem ...

Sorry sir, you are not confirmed on the Windhoek leg.....You'll have to sort it out in Johannesborg.  Bugger!  Quick few phone calls and it is sorted.  Yet another stress peak.  Dunno about the other group.  They might get clobbered too.  Here we are at the problem desk...

Sorted...

OK we’ve found Mary & Harvey.  That’s 30 mins late already and we’ve yet to hit the motorways.  I hear there’s carmageddon on the M25 what with it being the fist day of the holidays.  Who’s idea was it to go on super Saturday…?

They're off....

Picked up on time by taxi and tearful goodbyes with Lola (didn’t help she’d just got a fixed penalty notice from TfL for driving in a 50m bus lane at 4.30pm on a Sunday).  However the driver has just got lost trying to find Mary & Harvey’s.  We are about 15 miles adrift!  So much for taxi satnav.    Don’t panic Mr Mannering.  Still 4.5hrs before we need to check in.   Meanwhile back at the Griffin’s Head,  the others are having lunch…..

Saturday morning

Not finished packing yet.  Still quite a few jobs to do including cutting the grass.  3 hours and counting.  marion says I shouldn't be wasting my time on the blog!  You tell her folks!!  Dave (aka geek)

Site up and running

Ok.  Have posted the link on the Chillenden web site and it seems to work.  Next post - Heathrow Airport

The day before.....

Hi there!  This is the first post of the Chillenden on Tour 2011 blog.  It is Friday 22nd July 2011 and tomorrow whead off to Namibia for a village outing wih a difference.  Chillenden is a vey small hamlet in rural east Kent with a population of 96.  On Saturday 23rd July 2011, 15 of us head of to southern Africa for a holiday of a lifetime.  A few of us were down the Griffins Head tonight and someone suggested we should post the blog on the village website (thanks Steve).  So here goes....

Ok so we are off to Namibia tomorrow.  We've all got to stay friends by the time we come back and I don't think any of us have been on holiday with each other before so it's going to be quite a challenge.  Tonight we handed out the team polo shirts.  Pictures tomorrow.  Now it is time to go to bed.  Still have to pack...
